Back Up Ceremony Weather Plans- a Must!

I am writing this while it is torrential rain and wind here on the south coast and yes….we had a wedding yesterday. Eeek!
A bride’s worst nightmare it pouring rain on their wedding day but having a good back up weather plan in place will ensure it doesn’t all end in disaster.
Often we dream of balmy weather, a nice breeze and the perfect outdoor wedding by the beach or beside a tree in a beautiful garden.
Reality is (especially on the south coast!) the weather can be unpredictable.
This doesn’t mean that with a bit of forward planning your back up plan can’t be just as beautiful as the original one.

Here are a few tips;

– Find a back up venue for your ceremony.

Depending on your ceremony location, if outdoors you will need to come up with a back up plan if weather turns ‘not so happy’.
This may be putting on hold a marquee for you and your guests to stand under or looking for an indoor venue in the same or surrounding towns. Perhaps an art gallery or town hall might be an option, or your reception venue- maybe a separate room or adapting the reception room could work really well too.
Research these options in advance re availability and cost, perhaps you can pop them on ‘hold’ and make the call the day before your wedding depending on the forecast, but don’t leave it to the last minute!

– Choose alternatives for your décor

If your back up plan has now changed from an outdoor ceremony to indoors, be sure to come up with an adjusted plan for the decorations.
You may have had an arbour which can no longer be set up inside, opt for an alternative such as a freestanding arch, some beautiful candles stacked on wood boxes or a couple of big vases of flowers to stand near instead.

– Express your wishes with your wedding planner or stylist.

Making sure you let your wedding planner or stylist know a clear plan and chatting about this well in advance to the day means that they will know your wishes and be able to execute them in style for you.
It also means there is no stress as you know there is a plan in place, whatever the weather may be on the day!
