Suppliers Spotlight- Elka’s Garden in Gerringong
We have decided to do a series of supplier spotlights, getting behind the scenes to learn a little bit more about some of our favourite vendors and suppliers on the south coast.
First off we are starting with a gorgeous local florist Mel from Elka’s Garden in Gerringong. She does beautiful bouquets and is our go-to-girl when needing supply-only flowers for us to cut and set up in our jars. Here is a little bit about Mel and her cute shop in Gerringong.

What sort of services does your business offer/what do you do?
We are a boutique florist located in Gerringong and servicing the south coast. We specialise in wedding floral and botanical styling with a whimsical twist. All our florals are bespoke, meaning we spend many hours tailoring to each couples unique vision for their wedding day.
What questions do you recommend couples ask or look for when sourcing a florist?
When sourcing a florist we highly recomend that brides take time to check out a florists past work. With Facebook and Instagram it can be quite easy to check out other weddings that your florist has worked on. Like any creative field your florist will have a distinct style and it’s important to make sure it’s in line with the vision you have for your wedding. ( i.e traditional vs bohemian )
I think that the beautiful free flowing Bohemian look is still very on trend for 2016/2017 wedding season and we are starting to see a quite a few gorgeous sparkles creeping in. At Elkas We are loving fully sequinned bridesmaid dresses and even bridal gowns that can be offset beautifully with dark moody florals.
Your favourite product do you stock at the moment?
Our favourite product is hands down our reams of ‘ silk and Willow’ plant dyed silk ribbon. It’s the most luxurious, earthy , sustainably sourced adornment to a bridal bouquet. It photographs beautifully and looks breathtaking flowing softly below the stems.
