3 Tips to Styling a Tipi Wedding
First things first…is it teepee or tipi? Im not sure, but for this blog post i will reference Tipi!
We have really noticed the huge rise of popularity with tipi weddings, especially across some of our beautiful south coast wedding venues
An alternative to a marquee for covering at your reception, they lend themselves to working so well with farm and property-style bush or country weddings.
There are a number of awesome companies out there offering tipi hire servicing the south coast and Illawarra areas like Katalane who we are working with a few times this upcoming wedding season.
3 Tips to Styling a Tipi Wedding
There are so many options for styling this look, if you are considering having a tipi at your wedding, see our top 3 tips for styling a tipi wedding;
//Chill out Areas///
In good weather chill out area or break-out nooks as I like to call them are perfect for pre dinner drinks time then utilised later on as a break out space, for guests to take a breather from dancing.
To style this; think low to the ground arrangements; Moroccan, Leather or Indian style pouffs, vintage material or macrame pieces, boho throws and rugs, pallet seats and tables, wood boxes upturned as coffee tables, colourful cushions and pillows, lanterns with tealight candles- bliss! Don’t be afraid to mix and match for that thrown together look.

///Candles and Festoons///
I am ALWAYS going on about the importance of lighting for the ambiance at your wedding. Festoon lighting across the ceiling of your tipi and strung from the centre out to the grassed space surrounding connects the ‘out to the ‘in’ spaces for a nice flow.
Everyone knows my love of candles, I like to use them everywhere, they are cheap and create a beautiful vibe, for a tipi wedding don’t be afraid to use different types of candles clustered together as a feature on your tables or break out areas, us a mix of tall pillar candles, taper candles and tealights. If using outdoors in the elements, consider placing in taller lanterns or using fake candles, in case of wind!

///Greenery Installations///
These will never get old- LOVE them! Florists and stylists (like us!) can offer so many different styles to match the vibe and budget you are after now, options are endless. As a tipi has such a high ceiling I think it really needs some sort of hanging feature to create lots of what I call ‘vertical interest’ .
Consider greenery garlands draped across ceiling, wreaths dripping with florals or hanging features with jars of candles and flowers.
