Steph and Travis – Seacliff House
About You Two
Now, how did you two meet?
We met at a party, and later found out we were in the same faculty at Uni in the same year of study
Who popped the question, and how did it happen?
Trav popped the question in the Masaii Mara in Kenya.
Why did you choose your venue, and how was the venue selection process?
We spend a lot of time around the South Coast, being from The Shire, a lot of our holidays are spent down south, and we have always driven past Gerringong and commented on how beautiful it was. Seacliff was actually the first venue that we looked at in person, and it just felt right from the moment we walked around.
Quick Fire Questions
How many wedding guests did you have?
We had between 90-100
Sit down in Cocktail Style?
We had our ceremony, followed by Cocktails/Canapes out on the lawn and then a sit down shred-banquet style dinner for our Reception in the barn
What month?
September
Planning The Wedding
Was planning the wedding stressful, or did you enjoy the journey?
I would say it comes in waves. There are months when you forget you’re even in the middle of it, and then other months where it can become very overwhelming if you let it. We enjoyed it – keep it fun and don’t sweat the small stuff. We also found that all our vendors truly knew their stuff and had the best suggestions and ways about doing things. trust the experts!
How involved were you both in the wedding planning?
There have been comments about the wedding being somewhat of a surprise party for Trav if that gives an indication of his level of involvement, haha. But in all seriousness, yes, I did do a lot of the planning, but it was more of me narrowing it down to a couple of options, then together as a couple we chose the final one. Of course, before we started, we were both on the same page with the overall ‘big ticket item’ kind of planning elements and the direction we were heading.
What were your must-haves?
A decent photographer was a non-negotiable. As was food – and enough of it!
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process.
My dress was a gorgeous A-Line gown with some pearl beading details around the bust. Super cute and importantly comfy enough to do anything in. The dress finding process was pretty tedious, and I would definitely recommend starting this very early
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
We went for a bit of a classy cocktail, but also at the same time a bit of a relaxed summery euro kind of vibe. We loved it and so did all our guests.
On the Day
How did you both feel wedding morning?
The boys definitely had it easy – the girls had a lot more to do. In saying that, both of us felt pretty relaxed until about an hour before when the photographers and all other vendors arrived, and then it’s all systems go.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
The moment after we walked back up the aisle – when it was just us two for a moment and we were able to come to terms with the fact we just got married! And also the Dance Floor. There are no words to describe the relief after all the formalities are done and you’re able to just relax and party
Anything you would change or anything that didn’t go to plan?
It was verrrryyyyy windy during our ceremony. Something you just have to risk with a venue like Seacliff, but I would take wind over rain any day!. The wind did make it a bit tricky for photos, and choosing a hair-out style was probably not wise on my behal,f but no regrets!
After the Wedding
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words.
We’ve been together for about 11 years – so not much has changed, haha. It is nice to be able to refer to each other as husband and wife, finally, and it is really nice having our time on weekends back!
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding?
Our content creators – Lemonade Socials – are such good value! highly recommend. In general, though I think our best investment was choosing really good quality and experienced vendors across the board – it made all the difference and meant that on the day we were able to just enjoy ourselves, without anyone hassling us, and everything just going perfectly to plan without us having to worry. That is priceless.
Budget—over, under or what you estimated?
over – but no regrets. In saying that, we are both the eldest siblings and first to get married in our families, so we didn’t really know what to expect.
