Real Wedding; Erica and Cam @ GrowWild Wildflower Farm
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
Our first date was at a fancy dumpling restaurant in Wollongong, 8 years ago. We actually met online and Cam had the goofiest photos, I could tell he was a genuine, kind, lovely person, and I was not wrong!
Who popped the question and how did it happen?
Cam proposed to me while we were on a camping trip in our campervan down in Mollymook. We had just been for an amazing surf at one of our favourite breaks, Golf Course Reef. Cameron normally surfs for longer than me, so I was baffled as while I was walking towards the car, I looked back to see him stumbling in a panicked manner across the reef. He picked up the key-safe which we had secured to the van, and tried to open it. He approached me and said he was having trouble opening the safe and could I try. I opened the box to find a beautiful engagement ring sitting inside! Cameron got down on one knee, wetsuit and all, and asked me to marry him. It couldn’t have been more perfect!
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
We looked at 3 different venues, and decided on GrowWild Wildflower farm because of the beauty of the landscape, the incredible owners and the amazing wet weather option! Thankfully we did, as we ended up having our ceremony in the gorgeous barn as we had rain on our wedding day!
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
76 adults and 14 kids!
Sit down or Cocktail Style?
Sit down with shared platters! 100% recommend, our guests loved it.
What month?
25th of March, 2023.
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
I found certain aspects stressful but mostly enjoyed planning our big day. I was SO thankful to have hired WEC for our styling, run sheet creation and on the day co-ordinating as it meant I didn’t need to stress about forgetting certain elements.
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
I as the bride was certainly more involved in the research and finer details, but we were both involved in final decision making. Cameron also organised himself and the groomsmen accessories, cars, and helped a lot with the music!
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Delicious food, great entertainment, an awesome cake, brilliant photographer and videographer and just to have fun without stressing about the small stuff. We were so lucky to have all of the above!
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
I absolutely LOVED my wedding dress. I took my mum and my best friend to a few different places, and found my dress at Sposabella in Fairy Meadow. The ladies there are incredibly helpful and made the process so easy. I envisioned myself in a simpler dress, but when I tried on the Xanat by Aire Barcelona I truly felt like a beautiful bride!
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
We had a rustic style with native flowers to accompany our venue. Our colour pallete was greens and natural colours with pops of brighter colours throughout. I think it all worked out beautifully.
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
We were SO excited! We stayed together the night before and had a beautiful breakfast with my parent’s and bridesmaids before going our separate ways to get ready.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Standing in the barn, hand in hand, with the pouring rain on the tin roof, listening to each other’s vows. What a powerful moment!
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
Our whole day was absolutely perfect despite the wet weather, and we wouldn’t change a thing.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
We had a figurine of our beloved pet cat, who has since passed away, next to our cake on our wedding day. We wanted to include her somehow and this was the perfect way. We also had photos of each of our grandparents as they were sadly unable to join us for our wedding.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
Joyful, exciting, love-filled, keen for the future! We are about to head around the country for 4 months in our campervan and are so grateful to be able to spend our time as newlyweds in one of our favourite ways! Surfing and adventuring!
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
Photographer, videographer and wedding and event creators!
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
OVER. I think that is standard for 2023, but we wouldn’t change a thing!
