Real Wedding; Jessie and Andrew @ Worrowing
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
Like all modern love stories, online. We quickly went for a cocktail and hit it off.
Who popped the Question and how did it happen?
Andrew surprised me on Christmas morning 2019. He had 3 distraction gifts which he had written sentimental mini vows on which each gift related too. While i was oblivious he snuck off got the ring he custom designed over 6 months and then got down on one knee just as I finished opening the last present and asked will you marry me. I said yes and cried my eyes out while we hugged.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
We chose Worrowing as I loved the idea of a wedding which doubled as a weekend away for our friends with accommodation on site. it’s a stunning property and had so many options for the ceremony. Our process came down to budget and ability to have the wedding we wanted (however covid did change the plan a bit).
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
We planned for 100 but after two COVID postponements and only being able to select a week day in 2021 we ended up with 55 people.
Sit down of Cocktail Style?
We had a sit down wedding but a very casual style.
What month?
December 2021
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
I would say it was both I enjoyed it at the start and then it got very stressful due to covid-19 changes.
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
I took the lead as I had experience in event planning but we both had certain things we were responsible for during the process.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Writing our own vows, a first look and easy fun foods (Pizza,salads, antipasto boards, gelato and a brownie cake)
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
My dress was from Prea James (Asta 2020 collection) I found it at the amazing Hope x Page boutique. The team there were so friendly and understanding. I didn’t pick the dress, it was suggested by the consultant and I was like ah ok I will try it (not thinking much of it on the hanger). Once i had it on I loved it! it was that romantic, old hollywood vibe I loved but done in a modern way with incredibly soft silk. The team were amazing and held on and cared for my dress from jan 2020 to Nov 2021, even as they moved their shop location. I cant rate Alex and the team at Hope X Page any higher if your looking for a dress.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
I really love a romantic and personal wedding that is the vibe of the couple. thats what I tried to create. Andrew and Ii love good food, cocktails and old fashioned things. I think that came together in the design, bar and food. I wanted a no foam florist that would use in season native flowers and mix that with a tonne of candle lights What was created in the styling was even better than I could have imagined.
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
I felt good, just nervous for the weather and everything to be set up correctly. It was weird saying by to Andrew while we both got ready separately. Andrew felt good, just hated the waiting around till the first look.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
The best part of the day was finally saying I do after waiting 2 years to finally have our wedding day, that was followed with the surprise announcement to are family and friends was that we were expecting our first child.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
I think if we knew how extreme COVID would become we would have done a small wedding close to home instead of down the south coast, however most of our wedding was booked before March 2020 so we decided to postpone.
The weather did not go to plan just after the ceremony, so if I knew that I might have planned better to get people to the reception in the case of wet weather.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
We scrapped a lot of traditions as it didn’t really vibe with us, ones we kept were the first dance, the bridal party and speeches (however these were under strict instructions to be short and sweet). We also did a few fun things like walk down the aisle together, did a first look.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
Relaxing, silly and joyful
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
A coordinator, I honestly couldn’t have enjoyed my day without Vanessa managing everything on the day. I would also say our photographer/videographer as those memories are all we have now the day is over.
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
Over but i probably under estimated and couldn’t have imagined the cost changes due to covid postponements.
