Real Wedding; Sonia and Karanjot @ Seacliff House
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
We were set up by mutual family friends.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
I wanted something different, a Sikh wedding is traditionally held in a temple. I’ve always wanted an outdoor summer wedding. Originally I thought Seacliff would be a long distance to travel for our guests but because we got married towards Covid easing, our friends and family made a mini holiday out of it.
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
150
Sit down of Cocktail Style?
Sit down
What month?
Feb
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
I wish I gave myself more time, we planned the wedding in 3 months because there was a last minute opening at the Seacliff House due to COVID cancellations. It was stressful as rules kept changing, which created more anxiety.
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects then others or were you both equally involved?
I took most of the lead because I had a vision of what I wanted, where as KJ was happy with whatever I choose.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
A coordinator that’s not family, I had the wed event creators and they were honestly were my life savers!
An amazing DJ – we love to dance so it was important to make sure our di knew how to keep us and our guests happy.
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
My dress was a traditional Punjabi dress, I didn’t have a fitting. It was ordered custom ordered online after doing months of research and video calls (because of Covid) and only had to do minor adjustments.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
I wanted a vintage outdoor vibe.
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
Calm but excited.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
The first dance.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
A lot didn’t go to plan but that’s ok, knowing you can’t be in control and just enjoying the moment.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
My dad passed before my wedding so I had his name embroidered on my veil.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
Blissful and amazing!
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
A clear marquee for the rain!
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
I was a bit over budget as we had to make last minute changes due to the rain.
